Global crude steel production in September 2025
Global crude steel production for the 70 countries and regions reporting to the worldsteel Association was 141.8 million tonnes in September 2025, down 1.6% year-on-year.

Crude Steel Production by Region
In September 2025, Africa produced 2.0 million tonnes of crude steel, an increase of 8.2% year-on-year; Asia and Oceania produced 102.9 million tonnes of crude steel, a decrease of 2.1% year-on-year; the EU (27) produced 10.1 million tonnes of crude steel, a decrease of 4.5% year-on-year; other European countries produced 3.6 million tonnes of crude steel, an increase of 1.4% year-on-year; the Middle East produced 4.6 million tonnes of crude steel, an increase of 9.3% year-on-year; North America produced 8.8 million tonnes of crude steel, an increase of 1.8% year-on-year; Russia and the CIS + Ukraine produced 6.2 million tonnes of crude steel, a decrease of 5.3% year-on-year; and South America produced 3.5 million tonnes of crude steel, a decrease of 2.7% year-on-year.

The data submitted by the above 70 countries/regions accounted for approximately 98% of global crude steel production in 2024. Countries and regions included in the table:

Top Ten Countries by Crude Steel Production

In September 2025, China's crude steel production was 73.49 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 4.6%; India's crude steel production was 13.6 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 13.2%; the United States' crude steel production was 6.9 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 6.7%; Japan's crude steel production was 6.4 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 3.7%; Russia's crude steel production was estimated to be 5.2 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 3.8%; South Korea's crude steel production was 5 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 2.4%; Turkey's crude steel production was 3.2 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 3.3%; Germany's crude steel production was 3 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 0.6%; Brazil's crude steel production was 2.8 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 3.2%; and Iran's crude steel production was 2.3 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 6.0%.
